Bshannon Portrait Wip

Artist Profile:

I was born and raised in Fayetteville, Arkansas and surrounded by Arabian horses. The Arabian horse was at the center of my upbringing and continues to be an inspiration to me in all aspects, including jewelry design.

I have been designing and creating jewelry since graduating from the University of Kansas, with a BFA in design, in 1995. I have had the opportunity to travel to Italy and study the art of metal-smithing and jewelry design, which had a profound impact on my development as a jeweler. My influences include architecture and dramatic organic forms in nature. The reward is in combining both into a wearable form of metal and stone that is appealing to the eye. I work in all metals, from silver to platinum and use a variety of stones, such as rough turquoise and pearls, to fine diamonds and precious stones. I am always looking for that unique combination and contrast, high polish mixed with unusual textures, which would make a piece of jewelry wearable art, rather than an expected decorative element.

I can rework existing pieces or create a completely custom design. I also offer a personalized jewelry portfolio service if you are interested in updating your wardrobe accessories or redesigning your existing pieces.

My studio and gallery, in Winterset, Iowa, showcases many of my jewelry designs, as well as artwork from other artists. Paintings in watercolor and Peruvian stains by Ali Hatfield, colored porcelain and photography (Mike Haley and Suzy Siegele), sculptures in cast iron (Chris Weaver), and wood boxes (Sheldon Perkins). These artists are truly unique and offer one of-a-kind items you would not want to miss.

I look forward to meeting you and creating your own piece of art which will compel conversation.
